Islamic Paradise/Heaven/Jannat/Nirvana/Behesht and Hell/Jahannam/Dojhokh/Pit/Fire In Islam
The description of paradise/heaven/nirvana/jannah/behesht and hell/pit/fire/jahannam/dojhokh, which are given here, are very important for a Muslim to follow the path of Islam.
The temporary life of this world is a great test for man. Temptations are many and man is weak. The possibilities of faltering and sinning are not remote. Of all the temptations, the temptation relating to the opposite sex is thc highest. If the sexual urge of man is left unchecked and unregulated, there will be total anarchy and mischief in the world. Therefore, Almighty Allah placcd various rcstrictions upon man in this regard.
For those people who restrain and control the desires of the nafs in this world, Allah has promised immense rewards in the Akirah (hereafter). Man sometimes forgets these rewards and becomes inclined to sin. If he is reminded about these rewards, his resolve to control the nafs becomes stronger and more vigorous. It becomes easier to sacrifice the desires in view of these great rewards of the Hereafter. Besides the promise of these eternal rewards of the Hereafter, there is little that can control the desires of man, especially the desires of the youth.
That is why I have collected the details regarding Heaven and Hell according to Quran and Hadiths and compiled them in this post. I am going to give links and pdf files as well.
Eternal Life: Rewards and Punishments (By Shadiah Hamza Sheikh, Ph. D.) : Dr. Shadiah Hamza Sheikh is the Dean of the English Department, King Saud University in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. She is one of the Wisdom Enrichment Foundation’s International Board of Advisers. An active da’iyah, the Author has been giving Islamic lectures to women expatriates from various countries in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Here she talks about death, heaven, hell, how to achieve heaven and avoid hell in fair enough way.
Reality of Paradise and Hell : This compilation is just a broad introduction to Jannah and Jahannam. Here the descriptions come systematically by points.
The Maidens of Jannat(Heaven): This pdf contains many weak hadiths besides the most used and authentic hadiths to incur the comforts of heaven. The more we know about Jannat or Heaven the more it will help us to get closer to Allah and avoid sins. The grand expression of Jannat in this pdf is really helpful to curb worldy lusts and carnal desires. Here also we can find descriptions of the maidens or hurs of Jannat that will be rewarded to those who fear Allah.
May Allah show us the true path.
But for him who feareth the standing before his Lord there are two gardens. Which is it, of the favours of your Lord, that ye deny? Al-Quran [55:46-47]

salaamwalekum,i have many non muslim friends who would like to know the significance of the colour green in islam.does it signify peace?kindly let me know.
thanking you.
The color green has a special place in Islam. It is used in the decoration of mosques, the bindings of Qur’ans, the silken covers for the graves of Sufi saints, and in the flags of various Muslim countries. Green has been associated with Islam for many centuries. It is said green was Muhammad’s (sallallahu alaihi wasallam) favorite color and that he wore a green cloak and turban but this can not be confirmed as there is no authentic source that says this. Others believe that it symbolizes nature and life, hence the wonderful creation of Allah (swt). In the Qur’an (Surah 18:32), it is said that the inhabitants of paradise will wear green garments of fine silk. The color green symbolizes freshness, nature, peace and softness giving a overall impression of the peaceful nature of Islam. Regardless of its origins, the color green has been considered especially Islamic for centuries. Crusaders avoided using any green in their coats of arms, so that they could not possibly be mistaken for their Muslim opponents in the heat of battle.
